Trade in Services Related to Climate Change: An Exploratory Analysis (OECD Trade and Environment Working Paper 2011-03)
Ronald Steenblik and Massimo Geloso Grosso

Services trade plays a key role in tackling climate change. The deployment of greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation technologies depends on international trade in services sectors for business, telecommunications, and construction and related engineering. This is typically seen through cross-border Internet trade, commercial presence for the construction and operation of production facilities, and training or temporary movement of personnel.

This paper looks at the specific roles that these services play in helping to mitigate GHG emissions, by studying examples and identifying the major suppliers and consumers.
