GSP Soil Data Facility – Open call

The GSP Secretariat has launched the call for the selection of an institution or consortium of institutions to host the GSP Soil Data Facility (SDF). The GSP SDF is to provide technical and infrastructure support to the Global Soil Information System (GLOSIS), to be established as per the Pillar 4 Implementation Plan.
The SDF will be the technical backbone of the International Network of Soil Information Institutions (INSII), strengthening and supporting the sharing of interoperable soil data products. This includes capacity development, as well as the provision of technical tools and important elements for an operational web-based soil data infrastructure.

Applicants must comply with the selection criteria specified in the “Open Call – Global Soil Partnership Soil Data Facility”. Applications should be sent to the GSP-Secretariat@fao.org by 20 May 2017. The pre-screening of applications will be jointly conducted by the GSP Secretariat and Pillar 4 Working Group.
The final selection will be made by the 5th GSP Plenary Assembly, to be held from the 20th to the 22nd of June 2017. The appointment will be until 31 December 2020, with a possiblity of extension to be determined in agreement with the 8th Session of the GSP PA.
